Support Group
SUPPORT GROUP
We have started a support group at the House of Solidarity for all those who need to speak to someone, get feedback, find out more about this disease.

The Support group is run by specialists: a psychologist ready to listen and help the patients and their families. Here is possible to talk about the disease and sharing one’s experience of suffering can help people to feel less forlorn and helpless.

The aim of this Support group is to supply a service able to accept and interpret even those sorrowful moments of silence that this disease tends to hide. If you do not feel like speaking you can just listen and benefit from the experience of others.

For information and support please call 0532/977672 or
The House of Solidarity, Via Venezia 54, in Ferrara. Tel. 0532/977672 fax 0532/977531

A voice, even a whisper to help alleviate sorrow: this is the aim, the ADO challenge

FREE TELEPHONE LINE
A service created to widen as much as possible the already existing relationship between ADO and the patients’ families. A free direct line, a call center inside the House of Solidarity, with the purpose of embracing all the cancer-affected patients and their families, so as to remind them, whenever possible, that they can turn to a skilled staff and get help when possible.

Questions, doubts, uncertainties, suggestions, a longing to tell their stories: these are the usual situations that the families of these patients experience in-home assistance.

While waiting for definite answers from science and research, this voice, this telephone line, will remind you that answers are available to most questions, and reassurance and support can lessen the sufferance of our loved ones. This is a way to mitigate feelings of inadequacy and to look toward new horizons, where help is a real step forward on a road of future hope.

“A new voice for solidarity with families and for families...”

TELECONFERENCE SERVICE
This particular service will allow every family, prevented from leaving home but supplied with a personal computer and a webcam, to join a meeting via a teleconference with the medical team of the ADO House of Solidarity and with helpers from other centers, through a service at specific hours.

A further opportunity to meet families and sick patients on the road to cooperation, help and hope.
“A wider window on the problem: to listen, to find out, to talk...”

HELPFUL INFORMATION TOOLS
There is printable information to download which provide basic information. They consist of explanatory drawings, reinforced by short explanations of the dynamics and procedures to be followed. They are a kind of handbook together with useful advice to “leading and nursing” the patient in a situation of daily assistance.

This represents an intensification of the medical and nursing activity work at our free Hospice care and, at the same time, teaches caregivers how to do things the easiest way, so as to be of assistance, to be of real help to our sick ones, not an alternative to the vital medical advice of specialists.

This help at a distance, when correctly used represents a way to support families, by helping them not to feel “alone” and “inadequate” in the healing of their beloved patients inside/within a context of domiciliary assistance.

  • How to organize space, at home, to welcome a family member to nurse;
  • Useful suggestions for sharing activities inside the family in order to nurse the domiciled patient.
